Pedestrian Deaths in Houston: Safer Crossings?

Michael Skelly points out some dilemmas with a street design made for cars, with no consideration for pedestrians and other forms of traffic. If a road is built to be a fast road, drivers will travel based on the visual cues from the road, no matter the speed limit, and drive fast. We see this all over Houston, where the speed limit says one thing, but cars move at a totally different speed – whether that be faster or slower – based on the surroundings.
