Poem: Driving a Car is Like Bacon Grease!
“Driving a car is like bacon grease,
It will make you lazy and quite obese!
Young folks are drawing lines in the sand,
It’s vibrant streets, or a move to Sugar Land.
So let’s give Houston a lot of urbanity,
Doing any less, we’ll lose our sanity!”
Pedestrian Pete is quite the poet!
My 7 y.o. is enjoying reciting verses lately and she is going to *love* learning this one tomorrow morning. She’s a big bike/walk/transit fan. Smart kid, right? 😉
It would be cool if Pedestrian Pete could use a page on this site to archive his favorite verses (I’ve noticed a couple in the videos). What a friendly way to convey an important message . . .
Smart kid indeed! It’s wonderful to hear about youngsters learning a responsible, healthy lifestyle! If you click the “Pedestrian Pete Poems” tab along the top, it will take you into other verses. Let us know if you and your daughter would be interested in ‘walking with Pete’ and we will feature the video segment on our webpage. Or if your daughter would be interested in reciting one of the poems or one of her own, relating to walking or cycling of course, we would love to put it up on our site.
Thanks again! And keep on walking!
Pete
We’d love to do any of those things; just let us know!
Thank you for your interest and support in Pedestrian Pete. We are very interested in setting up a walk with you. It takes approximately 30 min to “walk with Pete”. We usually film Pedestrian Pete segments on Fridays, but if Fridays don’t work, please let us know another time that may work better. Please e-mail us at info@betterhouston.org with your contact info and some dates that would be best for you. Thanks again!
